The Labiates are a very large family of plants including annual or perennial herbs or even fruit trees with persistent and woody stems, very rarely trees or fickle plants.

They have a spindle-shaped root, an erect tetragon stem, often bushy and equipped at the bottom with serpentine stolons, branchy with opposite or verticillate branches; whole, astipulated, opposite, petiolate or sessile leaves of various shapes, but more often toothed or crenate, penninervias, hairless, pubescent, tomentose as the whole plant which is covered with a dense gray or whitish fleece.
