Biodea Biochar as soil conditioner

BioDea Biochar is a high quality and first class vegetable charcoal. According to Legislative Decree 75/2010, its great quality it’s due to its low ash and high charcoal contents. BioDea Biochar is a soil conditioner able to improve the chemical, physical and microbiological soil structure by making it stable and porous, thanks to which it is possible to reduce the frequency and quantity of water needed for irrigation; moreover, its high specific surface, that is similar to clay, facilitates the absorption and ion exchange of nourishing elements.

Biodea Biochar improves soil:

• It promotes aeration, drainage and resistance to compaction;

• It provides an optimal environment for the proliferation of microorganism communities; it revitalizes and increases the transformation of organic residues into humus;

• It reduces the action of pollutants thanks to its high adsorbing and filtering capacity.

Biodea biochar helps plants:

• It increases the ion exchange capacity between the soil and the roots, by increasing the availability and assimilation of nourishing elements;

• It increases the available water content (AWC) by more than 35%, by reducing irrigation requirements and water stress.

Conditions of Use

CO2 sequestration

Important climate change mitigation tool, it incorporates carbon into the soil for hundreds of years by sequestering 3 tons of carbon dioxide per ton used.

Ion Exchange Capacity

Thanks to its high specific surface that is similar to clay, it guarantees a high cationic and anionic exchange capacity able to provide micro and macro elements.

It relieves salt stress

Biochar can be used, through sodium adsorption, to relieve osmotic stress and to enrich the circulating solution of potassium, calcium and magnesium.

Biochar and useful microorganisms

The high porosity of biochar guarantees an ideal habitat for the development of microorganisms in the soil, useful for the transformation of organic and inorganic substance into assimilable elements.
